Cheerful, curious and friendly to a fault, Kallo Burwani is a soft-hearted adventurer whose sharp mind and oafish demeanor result in near-constant trouble.

A self-proclaimed expert aetherologist and 'magical investigator', Kallo can often be seen out and about either thinking or engaging in some sort of unorthodox shenanigans. Talking to chocobos, tripping over their own tail, or even doodling strangers in a notebook.

Oversized for a hrothgar, they stand almost nine fulms tall. Portly, broad-shouldered, and yet oddly-nimble in that way big cats tend to be. Sporting horns, elongated claws and massive fangs that could tear through almost anything, Kallo may seem fearsome at first glance. That impression rarely lasts for long, so long as nothing happens to change their otherwise-gentle tone...

Kallo is cheerful and friendly to a fault, taking the adventurer's spirit to heart. They will often sweep their own problems under the rug, or ignore them entirely to seek solutions for other people, often complete strangers. Theirs is a warm, smiley personality that jumps at the chance to call someone a friend or help someone in need. A trusting, generous personality that's gotten them manipulated and even betrayed more than a few times, and might continue to do so.

An accomplished red mage and former-arcanist, Kallo is knowledgeable and competent with a wide variety of magics and their fundamental underpinnings. They also possess a small collection of surprising, dubiously-useful talents, and some very destructive spells. While they may seem thick-headed, Kallo's true intelligence comes out when they're called upon to solve a puzzle, or unravel a new kind of magic.

In The Past - Some History


Kallo was raised in the Black Shroud, under the watch of a pair of rogue conjurers ignorant to the very existence of Hrothgar. Kept hidden and under magicked disguise for fear of being seen caring for a beastkin, Kallo was eventually shuttled from one Burwani camp to another until finally running away from home. From there, they made their way to La Noscea, and Limsa Lominsa.They joined Melvaan's Gate and stayed there for some time, learning arcanima and practicing medicine on the side as a chirurgeon who would ask less questions than most, plying their kindness and willingness to forgo judgement.Eventually, Kallo worked their way into a high-paying adventuring company, the White Lion, and took up the study of red magic. Working to support a valiant knight in blue, and a courageous young hero in yellow, Kallo's own courage grew beyond their skill, and they took on red as their own color.Then, following a disastrous rescue attempt/break-in on the Garlean Embassy in Kugane, they disappeared at sea for almost two years. Returning in tattered clothes, magicked disguise gone, they were nontheless deterred and built their life back up, joining a company called the Agency.After a vicious fight with a powerful voidsent, a stint fighting off the poisoned words of an evil mage, a cursed crystal twisting their mind and body into that of a behemoth, and the efforts to exorcise a twice-possessed friend, Kallo was forced to settle into a quieter life. Their 'curse' had taken its' toll, and ousted them from the adventuring life, making them unstable--if still the same friendly fuzzball.At last, following a stint of living in Radz-at-Han and a subsequent stay in the great Sharlayan hospital, Physis Techeon, Kallo has been loosed upon the world once more with a clean(ish) bill of health. Though nothing could be done about their condition, it was deemed ultimately harmless, if a little alarming.They currently work as an investigator and aetherological expert-for-hire, have been seen working with a group called the Silver Spire, and may have been spotted dabbling with a giant brush--to limited success thus far.

Kallo can be found on Mateus, and is in the EST time zone for those of you keeping track. I can be hard to contact out of game and don't like to give out my messaging info, but always feel free to send me an in-game /tell.I'm only IC when tagged, but don't let that stop you from sending a /tell. I'm glad to jump IC if I'm not busy, and I'm always willing to schedule something later!I'm always looking for casual or long-term RP friends, though particularly gruesome RP will have to be talked about ahead of time to make sure we establish comfortable boundaries. Do note, that while Kallo is largely a comedic character, the wackier aspects of their backstory and abilities aren't going to come up during Serious Time. Additionally, I don't do ERP, and while the conversation might get bawdy, don't expect anything to happen. Romance is off the table, too.Racism and transphobia are an immediate disqualification, even ironic bigotry will get you blocked. Don't test me on this. This includes slurs, even ones you personally don't think are offensive. I don't play around when it comes to comfort and safety, this is supposed to be fun.

Some RP hooks, for quick access:

  • -Kallo spent much of their youth under an enchantment that made them appear as a miqo'te, but did not change their voice.

  • -Kallo was an Arcanist for a time, and as a result was around Melvaan's Gate for a long while. Maybe you recognize their name or voice?

  • -Adventuring is a job that involves meeting people once and then parting ways, meaning a lot of faces and voices can be vaguely familiar. Mayhap you, or Kallo, are one of these vaguely-familiar people?

  • -For a brief time before the Calamity, Kallo was passed around a few Keeper families in the Burwani tribe. There may be a connection there.

  • -Kallo's aether is an absolute nightmare mess, and they're not very good at hiding it. Particularly sensitive individuals will pick up right away that, at least in part, Kallo isn't a normal hrothgar.

  • -With further inspection it isn't hard to guess, between the horns, claws and aether, that Kallo is partially-or perhaps fully-behemoth. Somehow.

  • -Need a big soft presence to pour your woes out to? They're always willing to help!
